The Fund’s hallmark Grants Program may supplement instructional needs, fulfill enrichment opportunities or subsidize a program/project that might not otherwise happen or reach the ideal scale. Applications are welcome from administrators, teachers, parents and students across the school district.

Poetry Out Loud

Each May, Poetry Out Loud celebrates young poets in grades 3-6 who read their original poems to an audience of family, teachers and community members. The NR Fund's Jeremy Scheinfeld Publishing Center publishes a bound volume of these wonderful poems annually for all participants and their schools. Harmony Hopwood, a current NRHS student and Poetry Out Loud alum, was selected as Westchester County Youth Poet Laureate in 2023.

Museum of Arts and Culture

The Museum of Arts & Culture (MAC) at New Rochelle High School provides students with a unique on-site experience of gallery installation and display. All the museum's events and programs are open to the public and free, providing a cultural asset for the entire community.

From the very beginning our preschoolers were immediately engaged. They loved seeing the students' artwork and were able to make connections to their own work in portraiture, color studies, and clay hand sculptures.

SAT/ACT Prep Classes

To reduce the barriers to college acceptance, the Fund offers six-week SAT or ACT prep programs at a substantially reduced price to all interested NRHS juniors.

Civics Fair

Since 1998, the NR Fund has helped students explore the issues of citizenship and governance. The Civics Fair, held in partnership with the City of New Rochelle each spring, features projects by students earning the New York State Seal of Civic Readiness on their high school diplomas. A public panel of elected officials and distinguished scholars engage in thoughtful discussions about the points presented in the student projects.
